“Suelle wash fruit and vegetables”

Joint note Arpa and ASL Umbria 1: “From the analyzes of the samples of material collected from Giovanni Urbani’s home and inside the cement works, the presence of asbestos fibers is excluded. The analyzes revealed the presence of Artificial Glass Fibers (FAV) used in the soundproofing modules of the chimney from which the material in question escaped following mechanical breakage of one of the silencer batteries”.

There is no proven risk to health following ingestion of FAVs, nor has it even been demonstrated for asbestos fibres. Furthermore, starting from the day of the accident, a repeated visual reconnaissance of the area most affected by the fallout began which allowed us to identify a very specific area around the Suelle locality.”.
Furthermore, the new ordinance requires residents of the affected area (identifiable in the following streets: Via del Castello, Via di Suelle, Via della Croce, Via dei lavatoi and Strada di Fonte Arcano for the last 400 metres) to carry out a thorough surface cleaning and washing the vegetables and fruit harvested in the above area with running water.

GUBBIO – A joint note signed by Harp And ASL Umbria 1 communicates that “the results of the analysis of the samples of material taken both from Mr.’s home were received Urbani Giovanni that inside the Barbetti cement plant, which excluded the presence of asbestos fibers and detected the presence of Artificial Glass Fibers (FAV) used in the soundproofing modules of the chimney from which the material in question escaped following mechanical breakage of one of the silencer batteries.

The FAV, as shown by the “Guidelines for the application of the legislation relating to exposure risks and prevention measures for the protection of health 2016 Update” produced following the State-Regions – Rep. agreement Acts n. 211/CSR of 10/11/2016, have effects on health only following respiratory inhalation, in a confined environment especially if with continuous exposure, as can happen for workers involved in the processing of these fibres.

There is no proven risk to health following ingestion of FAVs, nor has it even been demonstrated for asbestos fibres. Furthermore, starting from the day of the accident, a repeated visual reconnaissance of the area most affected by the fallout began which allowed us to identify a very specific area around the Suelle locality”.

1 – The company Cementerie Barbetti SPA, as owner of the cement plant in Corso Semonte, is asked to verify through in-depth inspections of the areas affected by the fallout
