Shortly before 2pm, Via dei Laghi was the scene of a very serious road accident which initially caused long queues and subsequently the closure of the road in the stretch between via dei Pratoni del Vivaro and the intersection with via Fontana Fiume, in front of the clinic San Raffaele. The accident, which occurred on the Veliterno stretch of the SP 217, required the immediate intervention of the police and emergency services, who were busy carrying out investigations and treating the injured.
According to initial information, the accident occurred at km 18+500 and involved more than two vehicles, although the exact dynamics still remain unclear, due to the difficulties in reaching the scene of the accident, not far from the fateful “death curve”, located a short distance away. The consequences for those involved would not be mild at all, with serious injuries requiring the urgent intervention of two ambulances. Law enforcement agencies, including the Local Police, are working to reconstruct what happened and ensure safety in the area.
The accident caused significant traffic disruption, with long queues forming immediately after the incident. The situation made it necessary to close the road in the affected section, to allow for investigations and rescue of the injured. At the moment, local police patrols are diverting traffic onto other roads to alleviate the traffic jam and allow rescue and relief activities to continue.
Two ambulances promptly responded to the scene of the accident to provide first aid to the injured and transfer them to suitable healthcare facilities. The situation on Via dei Laghi remains critical, with the road closed in the stretch between via dei Pratoni del Vivaro and via Fontana Fiume. Motorists are invited to follow the instructions of the Local Police and use alternative routes.
