The effects of the violent storm that hit the Northern Gargano last night are still visible and will continue for the next few hours. Among the most affected municipalities is certainly that of Vico del Gargano.

The Vico-San Menaio-Calenella provincial road was restored late yesterday evening. While the municipal roads in the countryside of the Vichese municipality will remain closed to traffic. For today, in fact, the ban on transit remains in force on the municipal roads Scaramuzzo, Montelongo, Passarella, Via Valle delle Noci, via del Carbonaio-via San Michele, and on the municipal road Particchiano and Chianche Lisce.

Also yesterday, the mayor also ordered the closure of the municipal cemetery for safety reasons.

The storm also caused damage in the municipality of Vieste, where the concert and fireworks show for the feast of Sant’Antonio were cancelled. The solemn procession has been postponed to Sunday, as announced by the Saint Anthony of Padua Festivity Committee.

The ‘Pegaso’ civil protection and GEV volunteers intervened in various areas of the Gargano municipality: in Piazza Santa Maria, in Contrada Petto, Contrada Santo Stefano and Contrada Costella due to falling trees. Interventions also took place in the Piano Grande area with the use of a water pump, while in via Sant’Eufemia a stretch of asphalt was deducted.
