It is Steffen De Schuyteneer who puts his stamp on the fifth stage of the Giro Next Gen, winning the section that started from Bergamo and ended in Cremona after 138 almost completely flat kilometres. So the forecasts were respected, with a final sprint that saw the Belgian runner excel of the Lotto Dstny Development Team, finished ahead of Tim Torn Teutenberg (Lidl – Trek Future Racing) and Lorenzo Conforti (VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè), second and third respectively. The pink jersey therefore remains on the shoulders of Jarno Widar.

Objective centered

The plan was for me to do a sprint today, after yesterday I was in the lead – says Steffen De Schuyteneer – I am very happy. I was a little sick at the start of the ride, but o.kI felt good today and my teammates did a fantastic job. It’s very special to win here in my first Giro Next Gen.”



The mountains are coming

Stage number 6 is scheduled for tomorrowfrom Borgo Virgilio to Fosse, 172 kilometres. Cyclists will be awaited by a mountain stagewhere after the first 70 km which are practically flat, you athey will tackle the climbs of Fane, Righi, Marano di Valpolicella and Cavalo in sequence, which with the final one in Fosse bring the total difference in altitude to around 3000 metres, all concentrated in the last 100 km. Only breather in the Adige valley before tackling the final climb from Peri to Fosse, 9km at around 9%.with an uphill finish.
