The Modena mechanics unions will meet the Ministry of Economic Development to talk about Stellantis and the future of the Maserati factory. Little hope for the Trident Innovation Lab, transferred and “destined for closure”

MODENA – Finally it’s Modena’s turn to address the Stellantis issue with the Ministry of Economic Development: placed at the end of the list of meetings with the territories in which the group linked to the Agnelli family operates, the province of Modena looks with fear at the future of Maserati and with resignation to that of its Innovation Lab, essentially given up for “gone” after the announcement of the transfer from the headquarters in via Emilia to the central one in viale Ciro Menotti. CGIL and UIL fear that the ultra-technological laboratory will only be an empty box, with a consequent clear reduction in quality jobs aimed at mechanical and non-highly qualified engineers. But it is not for these top figures that the concern is strongest: the fear is above all for the workers of Modena, caught for months between layoffs and solidarity and reduced to an income of less than a thousand euros net, a context which according to FIOM will not change between now and the end of the year: what are Maserati’s real prospects then? Stellantis has raised the possibility of creating an atelier for fine finishes in Modena – but which cars if the Trident stops producing them? Skepticism prevails among the Modena unions: all that remains is to wait less than 24 hours to understand if these fears are well founded or if something is finally moving around Maserati.
