Bad weather, furious storms in Friuli Venezia Giulia: chaos between Udine, Latisana and Maniago

Violent storms hit late yesterday evening and in the night different areas of the Friuli Venezia Giulia. Initially the bad weathercharacterized by strong rains, hailstorms And windhit the Pordenone foothills. The most serious damage occurred in Campagna di Maniago, with flooding of basements and damage in the industrial area. Several fire brigade and municipal civil protection teams intervened on site, supported by volunteers from Montereale Valcellina.

Also Latisana was hit hard, with significant flooding in several areas, including Latisanotta, Viale Trieste and via Aquileia. Local authorities and Civil Protection are mobilized to manage the situation and have invited the population to avoid non-essential travel. On the Facebook page “Città di Latisana” we read: “Storm in the capital: Latisanotta, Viale Trieste, via Aquileia and large surrounding areas are flooded; water workers, local police, civil protection and technical staff of the municipality are operational; please avoid traveling by car unless strictly essential“.

The bad weather subsequently moved to the province of Udine, hitting San Daniele del Friuli, Rive d’Arcano and, in the lower plain, Ronchis and Castions di Strada. Firefighters and civil protection teams also intervened in these locations.

Udine was particularly affected, with dozens of trees fallen in Viale Vat and other damage visible in various streets in the northern area, as well as inside the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital. Numerous interventions by the firefighters due to flooding, which also affected the Palamostre.
