Sudden and violent storm in Trieste: streets submerged in water

MeteoWeb

This morning Trieste was hit by 2 violent episodes of rain within a short distance of each other, turning the start of the week into a nightmare. Many streets of the city were submerged by water, which quickly reached the thresholds of homes and, in many cases, penetrated inside staircases and doors. The Trieste Fire Brigade was immediately alerted and carried out 25 rescue operations related to the fire. bad weather. However, dozens of requests for help still remain to be processed. The operational teams are verifying the deferrable reports received from the NUE (Single Emergency Number).

The wave of bad weather was particularly violent. A storm, accompanied by hail and strong winds, hit the city. In a few minutes, the Rozzol-Melara area was enveloped in an incessant flurry of thunder and lightning, illuminating an already leaden sky.

The Trieste railway station was one of the most affected areas. Water began to flood the area due to a blocked manhole, located in front of the automatic sliding doors leading to the tracks. The situation has caused considerable inconvenience to commuters and travellers, making the area impassable.
