Bmr Basket 2000 rejoices. The blue and white team beat the never-tamed Baskers Forlimpopoli to a “good” degree and, making the most of the field factor, won Serie C for the second year in a row: compared to last year, practically all the protagonists have changed, but not the desire to win. After having only grabbed the playoffs at the last minute and risked elimination in the semi-final with Zola Predosa (victory in this case too in the third match after losing the first), Baroni’s men demonstrated character and quality, as well as an Alberione unmarkable.
The news. The tension, in a race that is worth a season, is sky high. And what suffers is the spectacle: the teams score slowly, even on well-constructed shots, and the score remains low. Among the Romagna players, Lorenzo Brighi takes his teammates by the hand at the start, while on the other side it is the usual Alberione who is the point of reference. After the 26-29 in the middle of the match, the Baskers reach +5 with the usual Lorenzo Brighi, before the break that brings the locals ahead: Paparella scores the 40-39 from the arc, then Defant scores the +4 from the corner internal. Bmr is confident and Caroli closes the third period with another heavy conclusion, that of 48-41 with which the teams enter the last quarter. Once again, as in game 1, the Baskers don’t let go and get back to -2 with 5 points in a row from Bracci, but are pushed back by two conclusions from the usual Paparella and Defant. When Alberione scores 57-48 (his team’s 11th triple of the evening), the goal begins to materialise, also because in the end there are only 2 minutes left and at the siren the city’s celebration can start, with promotion to B in the safe. The decisive basket is from Paparella, a perfect trait d’union between the 2022/23 Bmr and this year’s, two teams with different protagonists but equally successful.
