DELIANUOVA – A meeting promoted by the Delianuova Comprehensive Institute led by the director Annamaria Cama took place last June 3 in the conference room of the School of Music, the theme of which concerned the content of Article 11 of the Constitution which has as its object the repudiation of war. The meeting, organized by the representatives for legality and civic education, Arcangelo Macrì and Antonia Cataldo, was organized with the collaboration of the local ANPI section. Speakers included the vice-principal Carmela Serafino, the marshal on duty at the Defense General Staff, Salvatore Provvidenza, the president of the ANPI section “Nino D’Agostino”, Angela Strano, the commanders of the Carabinieri stations of Delianuova, Giardino di Cosoleto and Scido Placido Forte, for the ANPI Nino Princi teacher and writer. The interventions were moderated by Arcangelo Macrì. After the greetings of the vice-principal who underlined the constant commitment that the Delianuova School has been carrying out for years on the issues of legality, the ANPI president intervened and spoke about the fundamental principles of the Constitutions “among which”, she said, “there it is internationalism that allows Italy to cede part of its sovereignty in favor of supranational bodies that contribute to maintaining peace and harmony between peoples”. Princi focused on the figure of the anti-fascist from Delia Francesco Caminiti who fought for freedom against the abuses of fascism. “Anti-fascism,” he explained, “united communist Caminiti with other local figures who came from different political realities or from other paths such as the soldier Giuseppe Scutellà who fought against the Nazi-fascists on the Friulian front. People who believed in peace and not war.” Witness of peacekeeping missions abroad with the Italian Army, Marshal Provvidenza gave a significant account of his experience. “I have been in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Lebanon,” said Provvidenza, “the task of our armed forces was to intervene to re-establish a climate of international security. Each contingent first sets up field hospitals, our doctors help the local population. In compliance with the art. 11 our Nation becomes an active part in international law by promoting peace”. Marshal Forte spoke about the peace missions carried out by the Carabinieri, “today the ministry is no longer defined by war but by defense”, he stated, precisely in reference to article 11″. After the questions and the presentation of the students’ works, the representative Macrì concluded the event with the hope that the children can grow by always cultivating the values of peace.
