1.1 million euros of community funds arriving in Liguria thanks to the European Interreg Alpine Space programme. This follows the approval by the Program Committee of four projects with Ligurian partners. Italy (with six regions, including Liguria, and two autonomous provinces) is part of the 2021-2027 transnational cooperation programme, like Austria, Liechtenstein, Slovenia, Switzerland and some regions of Germany and of France. The Program Committee, which met in Bled in Slovenia on 5 and 6 June, approved a total of 33 million for the entire Alpine area. Of these, as mentioned, 1.1 million will arrive in Liguria for projects which are expected to start from this summer.

The four projects

The “ALPHA” project, with partners from the Liguria Region, supports the growth of the Alpine area as an energy hub by reducing air pollution and promoting the transition to a low carbon emissions system; the “A-Drop” project, with partners Fondazione Cima, intends to improve the capacity of Alpine regions in dealing with drought and promoting sustainable water management; the “RESPOnD” project, with partners il Cinque Terre National Park, aims to develop and test effective solutions to build a climate-resilient wine sector; finally, the “ASTER” project, with partners the Genoa Chamber of Commerce and Filse, intends to improve cooperation for the management of textile and plastic waste in the Alps, with a focus on outdoor products for the mountains by promoting a multifunctional exchange model between companies agricultural and rural.
