Molfetta in shock due to the sudden death of Don Gino Samarelli
The entire Molfetta community is speechless at the tragic news of the sudden passing of Don Gino Samarelli, who passed away this morning.

Many messages of condolence on social media, apparently from the many people who knew him personally or who had scholastic and educational experiences with him at an ecclesiastical level. A city that cannot give itself an explanation for the unexpected loss of a well-known face of the local Church, always characterized by an above-average humanity and a great ability to listen.

This was the message of condolence from the Diocesan Museum: “We had just learned to dream together, accompanied by the music you brought to the Museum. Parish priest of the Cathedral of Molfetta and teacher of Catholic Religion at the classical high school “L. da Vinci” of Molfetta. Don Gino was director of the diocesan weekly Luce e Vita from 1984 to 1987, founder of the Digressione Music label and we remember him for the great contribution he offered in the first moments of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, managing to transfer some Ukrainian refugees from Leopoli in Italy. Since last year he was an active part of the management of the cultural services of the diocesan museum. We will miss you Don Gino!”.

The Archconfraternity of Death also expressed its pain through its official channels: “We are shocked by the news of the passing of dear Don Gino, a point of reference for our community. We are certain that from up there you will continue to watch over our steps of faith. Bye Don Gino, we will miss you”.
