The president of Liguria, under house arrest, Giovanni Toti requested and obtained the right to vote at European elections. He will have to show up at the polling station escorted by the Financial Police, but will be able to exercise his right to vote. Whether it will go on Saturday or Sunday is not yet known. What is certain is that the judge for preliminary investigations accepted the request presented by the governor’s lawyer, Stefano Savi. The vote, needless to say, will go to a government party. As Toti himself had already said in February, when the corruption investigation was still far away and there was talk of a third term for the president.

In all likelihood it could go to Forza Italia, by virtue of the agreement signed by the party led by Minister Tajani with Noi Moderati, the movement led by Maurizio Lupi and Toti himself, which at a national level presents itself with a unitary list.

Meanwhile, the prosecutor’s office is evaluating whether to hear the former prosecutor Francesco Cozzi. His name popped up in the wiretaps of the entrepreneur Aldo Spinelli (also under house arrest for corruption) who explained, in October 2022, to the port manager Rino Canavese that he had “hired Francesco Cozzi as a super consultant” because in that period he feared a legal war with the shipowner Gianluigi Aponte.

The former head of the Genoa prosecutor’s office retired in July 2021 and a year later registered as a lawyer in the Piacenza register. The financial police have recently searched among the papers seized a month ago for confirmation of that consultancy.

But Spinelli’s lawyer Andrea Vernazza explained to the investigators that the advice given by Cozzi was only “oral” advice. The former prosecutor himself underlined that he had provided the prosecutor’s office with a “summary” of the activity carried out complete with a copy of the invoice.

That documentation has not yet arrived on the ninth floor. Many “I don’t remember” came yesterday from the hearing of the former lawyer and now port consultant Anna Maria Bonomo, who was heard as a person informed of the facts. She too had shown herself against the solution found for the tombing of Calata Concenter, i.e. the use of 25 million from the Genoa Decree.

Meanwhile, on the economic front, the port operators and the Savona administrations express «strong concern about an administrative action that has slowed down in recent weeks» and «for the phase that the Port System Authority is going through and the effects it could produce on the port management”. The port operators and the Savona administrations raise the alarm with a letter addressed to the extraordinary commissioner of the ADSP of the western Ligurian Sea Paolo Piacenza, to say that “it is necessary to move forward with the practices and projects essential for the ports of Savona and Vado Ligure » and there must be no «unjustified delays in time».
