Montefiascone – (sil.co.) – Surprised in his pajamas in the middle of the road, a 42-year-old with multiple criminal convictions originally from Civitavecchia was arrested by the Montefiascone police after having headbutted a tree on the edge of the Verentana, threatening them “I’ll say that you hit me” .
It was just after eight in the morning on November 24, 2020 when 112 received a series of reports of a man in pajamas running in the middle of the road, between cars, creating an obstruction and danger to traffic.
“We went to Strada Verentana, in Le Mosse, and we actually found him running in the middle of the street in his pajamas, so we stopped him, discovering that he was a multiple-convict subject to special public security surveillance, who was staying at the house of a prejudiced in the place, which he should not have attended due to the restrictions imposed. That morning he would have smashed his furniture, then he would have gone away in his pajamas,” one of the Norm soldiers who intervened as soon as the alarm went off explained to judge Ilaria Inghilleri yesterday. The guest has since died and will not be able to report to the trial.
Stopping him wasn’t easy. “He bragged about being a former boxer. His nostrils were dirty with white dust and his pupils were dilated, we told him that he had to wear a mask against Covid but he didn’t want to know, then he threatened suicide then he moved on to death threats towards us”
“Finally he started hitting a plant on the side of the Verentana road, causing a wound on his forehead from which he was bleeding, shouting that he would say it was us. Given the situation, we filmed everything with the smartphone,” continued the witness in the presence of the accused, who came to court with the penitentiary escort of the Civitavecchia prison, where he is detained for another reason. In Viterbo he is also on trial for an ugly case of mistreatment in the family.
The 42-year-old continued to rage even in the barracks and in the emergency room of the Montefiascone hospital. In the throes of what appeared to be a crisis of withdrawal, he was also entrusted to the care of the Serd staff. Finally he was taken to Viterbo. The prosecutor produced screenshots of the footage shot by the military.
The accused, for his part, was questioned, also making spontaneous statements, first saying that he did not remember what happened, then that it was not true that he had been taken to hospital, then explaining that it was a bad period in which he was always under crack and took psychotropic drugs.
Regarding the criminal who hosted him, whose home was defined by the police as “a sea port”, he instead declared that he did not know he was a criminal and that he had been his guest for about a week.

Presumption of innocence
In the Italian criminal system the presumption of innocence applies until the final sentence. Presumption of innocence which is based on article 27 of the Italian constitution according to which a person “is not considered guilty until finally convicted”.
