Initially, the adjustment only concerned new subscriptions, while at a later stage it was also provided for offers already in force. In both cases, TIM chose not to continue.

In particular, TIM referred to the regulation that the Communications Regulatory Authority (AGCOM) approved at the end of 2023.

The new regulation established various principles of the relationship between telecommunications operators and their customers, such as the maximum duration of the contract and, indeed, also the application of prices based on inflation.

Among other things, AGCOM had decided that at least twelve months must pass after joining before applying the price adjustment.

With reference to the annual price adjustment clauses provided for in fixed and mobile telephony contracts released from 27.11.2022 until 3 January 2024, reported below, TIM in compliance with current legislation (AGCom Resolution no. 307/23/CONS ), will not follow up on the application of these clauses“, we read on the official website. “Likewise, TIM, in compliance with the aforementioned legislation, will not follow up on the application of the unilateral modifications to the pending fixed and mobile telephony contracts, made known with the press releases published on the TIM website dated 16.01.2023; 8.02.2023; 21.02.2023; 03.21.2023; 20.07.2023, aimed at the inclusion of similar annual price adjustment clauses“.
