“I try not to think about it so much, it’s been my secret this year: to work hard and have fun without thinking too much. These are the feelings I have and I hope with all my heart to be among the 26.”
You were already in the group before Gatti and on Monday Spalletti said that the Juventus defender will go to Germany. Doing some calculations in 26 you’re there…
“I’ve learned to set goals but at the same time not to have too many expectations. It’s not a question of humility, but this way, whatever happens, I’m happy. I don’t think Spalletti has already decided, so I’m trying to continue like this.”
How was the roar of the audience when you still had to enter?
“It was a wonderful emotion. It’s wonderful to make your debut but even more so with this warmth.”
Is there a thank you that you would like to offer for having reached this goal?
“So many people and they know who I am.”
What climate did you find on retreat?
“A very serene atmosphere, a very united team. I already knew some players, others I’m getting to know now but in my opinion we can do very well.”
Spalletti wasn’t too happy with the match
“It was a balanced, tough match, against a tough and difficult opponent to face. In my opinion we need to start again from the first 10-15 minutes of the second half, from that intensity. Now we will have to do better in these other friendlies.”
Where did you see the 2021 European Championship final? Is it possible to dream of an encore?
“I saw her at home with my parents, I was very happy and afterwards I went to celebrate. I certainly didn’t expect to be here three years later. An encore is what we all hope for.”
