The editorial staff of TuttoJuve.com contacted the former Juventus player from 1959 to 1962 and from 1964 to 1966 exclusively by telephone. Bruno Mazzia, to talk in depth about the latest changes at Juventus and beyond:

I would start from the end which can very well be read as a beginning: who is right between Juve and Allegri?

“I don’t know who behaved worse, Allegri was certainly fooled by the drama of the Italian Cup final. That gesture happened before everyone’s eyes, I’m sorry because for some it served to erase all the good he had done up to that point. I can’t to take a stand.”

The position, however, was clearly taken by the club when it sacked the coach.

“Honestly, I don’t even know who the managers are, before there was the family which was a guarantee. And now, however, I have no idea if the president and the CEO have ever held a role in sport. It’s also difficult to express a judgment”.

A guarantee, for you, was certainly Massimiliano Allegri. Or not?

“For him, his career speaks for itself, apart from that gesture which unfortunately was negative. Most likely there was a disagreement between Allegri and the management, they seized the moment and it ended with the termination of the contract.”

How much do you like Thiago Motta?

“He was born the day before yesterday, he is lower than Allegri’s level and that of many other coaches. He did very well with Bologna, I think he is one of the most cautious around. Revolution? In part yes, but a lot will depend on the players. More than a few have done some negative things this year, then they managed to re-emerge, for example, he was much discussed, then he was a very strong player, but he is in possession particular characteristics”.

Among those players who have done negative things, is there also Federico Chiesa?

“Chiesa is a valid player for Juventus, but unfortunately he has been affected by injuries. He has dribbling, sprinting, shooting, experience, but we will have to see if he is healthy or ill. I read that he is highly coveted by Napoli and Roma, but I don’t I would never deprive it.”

Finally on Rabiot, would you renew it or let it go away at zero?

“Rabiot is a linear player, so he is now able to have a constant performance. For me he has been very incisive this season, he is no longer very young but he has that experience which is always needed in context. And then he is a point of reference for the younger ones, so yes I would renew it immediately”.

We thank Bruno Mazzia for the courtesy and availability shown during this interview.
