The Suoni Possibili Association of Vercelli, promoter of the “Nature and Technology” Musical Composition Competition, awarded the first overall prize to the very young composer from Vercelli Alessandro Giorgio (18 years old) and his piece “Serendipity”. The competition, conceived and directed by Sergio Sorrentino, had as its object the creation of a piece of electronic music inspired by the natural sounds of rice fields (with recordings made by Suoni Possibili and made available to the competitors).
There were numerous participants. The jury, made up of well-known musicians such as John King (Professor at New York University), Luca Sigurtà and the experimental musician She Spread Sorrow (Cold Spring Records) declared the young man from Vercelli the winner “for his profound adherence to the sounds of the territory ”. The prize (offered by the Rotary Club of Vercelli) consists of the artistic production, printing, distribution and promotion of a solo album in the name of the winner.
Sergio Sorrentino declares: “Our mission is to give new and important opportunities to young people and their creativity. Thanks to the support of the Rotary Club of Vercelli (President Giorgio Rognoni), Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Torino, Cristina Cagnoni of San Paolo Invest and Marazzato Srl, we can give the most unique and rare opportunity to a very young composer from our area to realize his first album (in both physical and digital format) that will be produced by us and distributed worldwide by our label Suoni Possibili”.
