The images are still impressive: three crumpled cars, the booth of the Rosignano motorway toll booth on the A12 completely destroyedthe bodies of the three victims laboriously extracted from the wreckage on a dramatic Sunday.
Three dead: German husband and wife aged 61 and 68, both from Ausburg, who were traveling in the direction of Rome with their car, a Honda: they collided at high speed with another car, a Fiat 500, stopped at the toll booth driven by a boy 21 year old who passed away. Robert Friendrich Fendt (61 years old), his wife Maria Cornelia Schubert (68 years old), the Florentine Marco Acciai, from Pontassieve.
Acciai was in the 500, sitting in the passenger seat, with a 29-year-old girl driving, who was injured. Five more injured: a 63-year-old woman, two little brothers aged one and six and her 35-year-old mother, who were taken to the hospital in Livorno, the toll collector, a 44-year-old from Cecina, still in shock after seeing the car hit him .
The investigators are trying to reconstruct what happened: the Germans’ car therefore did not brake the driver may have fallen ill, or there may have been a breakdown in the car. The car arrived at high speed on the cars queuing at the A12 barrier: hence the domino effect which also destroyed the toll booth. The scene was filmed by cameras.

The German car hits the two boys’ Fiat 500 and overturns it. The collision continues, overwhelming the other car. And for the same reason, before overturning, it sends the Fiat 500 upwards, causing it to fall upside down into an indistinguishable mass of sheet metal.
