The jury and the management of the “Salvatore Zuppardo” Center for Christian Culture and Spirituality chaired by Andrea Cassisi, on the occasion of the celebration of the national poetry prize “La Gorgone d’Oro” now in its 24th edition, decided to award the prize Special Lifetime Achievement Award to Prof. Carlo Morselli, from Gelato, university professor.
Next week the names of the winning poets of the “La Gorgone d’Oro” national poetry competition will be announced. The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday 22 June at the Sala Puglisi of the Casa del Volontariato in Gela (Via Ossidiana 27).
Carlo Morselli is an acute scholar of criminal law, criminal procedural law and immigration, in the national field. He is endowed with an uncommon, high and very fertile intelligence; his ingenuity and extraordinary abilities are widely documented and demonstrated by multiple academic and scientific merits.
His new and original legal theories have been rigorously checked and published by scientific journals and national publishers. He published his most recent theory with the publisher Jovene of Naples with the title: “Secrecy of investigations in criminal trials. Theory of a revision of Internal Secrecy”.
This is an overflowing scientific production of absolute importance. He has published over 150 articles, 9 monographs, 4 encyclopedic entries and 2 treatises with the Aracne publishing house of Rome. He has published two legal dictionaries with Pacini Giuridica of Pisa and with Jovene of Naples. He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the “Alcide De Gasperi” Institute of European Studies.
He has held highly prestigious roles in various Italian universities. He taught Immigration Law at the Kore University of Enna, and at the Unitelma Sapienza University of Rome; he was an External Lecturer in Criminal Law and Procedure at the Department of Excellence of Roma Tre University.
He also taught Immigration Law at the Lumsa University of Rome, Taranto, Palermo. He currently teaches at the Guglielmo Marconi University of Rome, and is a Professor of Criminal Procedural Law, in the Department of Law, at the Specialization School of the University of Perugia, for the “L. Migliorini” Legal Professions, for Magistrates, Notaries, Lawyers. He stands out for having obtained in 2024 two qualifications for university teaching in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedural Law at Luiss G. Carli and the University of Verona (in two disciplines).
Secondly, he stands out as a speaker in 2012 at an international conference on immigration; also speaker at two national conferences in Rome, at Unitelma Sapienza and Lumsa. What still stands out is having successfully defended, as a lawyer, in America, being called, in New Jersey, to successfully defend a death case.
As a journalist wrote, the same one who in November 2016 depicted him as “an excellence outside the walls”, Carlo Morselli has an extraordinary capacity for physical resistance, subjecting himself to almost unparalleled fatigue and weight: in Italy he was l He is the only scholar to have commented, alone, on the entire Code of Criminal Procedure, in five volumes, as the President of the Court of Cassation Dr. assures us. Giovanni Pioletti, in one of his meticulous reviews: “Scoli. Commentary on the Criminal Procedure Code. The volume constitutes an analytical commentary.
The Work therefore introduces a new genre and, despite its extension, presents itself as a compact series published in a limited period of time and dating back to a single hand, and also from this point of view it is new because it is the first time ever that in Italy a single Author proceeds to comment on the entire Code, when usually a publishing house recruits a staff of a hundred scholars to carry out such a vast work.
Scoli is divided into five volumes and constitutes an analytical commentary… and a particularly in-depth one. The work, completely peculiar, is colossal in its extension and original in its structure”. He is now working on a third Dictionary in Criminal Law.
