Another car on fire in Montegranaro

Yet another car set on fire in the middle of the night, in Montegranaro. This time, it was a plumber’s van (Fiorino type) that caught fire, with the trade’s equipment inside and, according to the very first hypotheses, it is not excluded that the flames had a malicious origin. The incident occurred at 2.30 last night, in via Carlo Alberto (not a central road) and the van used for work by the owner who, as usual, had parked it under the house, paid the price. Once they realized what was happening, the residents immediately alerted the Fermo firefighters who arrived on site and, with them, a police patrol also arrived. Fortunately, there were no other cars parked near the vehicle. The vehicle had been left parked next to a fence which, in the fire, was only slightly blackened by smoke. Only the carcass of the van remained. Once the fire was put out, the police were able to carry out the first investigations to trace the causes of the fire. Unfortunately, they will not be able to count on the video surveillance images, as it is a secondary street and, therefore, not covered by the cameras. After the fire of two cars in via Fermana Nord which occurred three-four nights ago, that too in the middle of the night (around 4), now that another episode has occurred and another vehicle has been reduced to a pile of sheet metal, There is great general perplexity, especially among the residents. It makes us reflect on the unusual frequency with which similar events are happening in the city and in neighboring towns and whether there is not rather a precise intention, on the part of unknown persons, to create diversions that attract the attention and presence of the police, to have a free hand to carry out operations of a completely different kind.

It cannot be ruled out that there may be a connection with the attempted theft at the Ely Factory shoe factory in Montegranaro on May 15th. In that case, however, the carabinieri managed to foil the attack and capture one of the gang members, a 35-year-old from Foggia who is currently under house arrest. Coincidentally, on that occasion too, as happened on the night of the last thefts, several cars had been set on fire in Fermo and Porto Sant’Elpidio. During the attack the other night, however, two cars were set on fire in Montegranaro. The Carabinieri investigators are convinced that these are diversions aimed at concentrating the attention of the police in areas other than where the thieves will then strike.
