The day was introduced by greetings from the mayor of Castrovillari, Domenico Lo Polito, the tourism councilor, Ernesto Bello, the president of the Lions Club, Filomena Ferrari, and the president of the Pollino – Sibaritide press club, Mario Alvaro. Sofia Torsello won the school section of the Giuliano Sangineti Journalism Award (IV AC of Itis Enrico Fermi) who was able to update Martin Luther King’s message «in the vision of the present in which life must be spent to build a better world, knowing which side to stand on». Also on the podium are the writing works of Cristian Cosma (V AE of Itis Enrico Fermi) and Sebastian Ierardi (VB of Itcg Pitagora Calvosa). Special mention for the works of Ferdinando Grimaldi (II AM of Itis Enrico Fermi), Emmanuel Antonucci (IV B of Ipseoa Wojtyla) and Iman Said (IV Ottico Ipsia Leonardo Da Vinci)».

At the ceremony, as happens every year, awards to the world of regional information are also awarded. This year’s recipients of the journalism award were Rosalba Baldinonews editor-in-chief of Teleuropa Network, author of books and essays «for years engaged as a television journalist, she has been able to tell and describe the area with passion, adding writing between creativity and reality to her professional background» – write the organizers – and Pietro Comito, journalist , writer and author of the TV series Mammasantissima «His journalistic activity – it is written on the plaque delivered – is a collective heritage for having helped the reconstruction of criminal phenomena by delivering precious documentation that becomes visual and moral memory».

«The journalists of Abmreport.it Vincenzo Alvaro And Michele Martinisi they were joined in the presentation of the 2024 edition of the award by Alessandra and Federico Sangineti, children of the late Giuliano, whom their mother Stefania wanted to make protagonists of the moment of celebration of their father’s figure. An emotional moment highlighted by the words of all those present and in particular by the president of the Order of Journalists of Calabria, Giuseppe Soluri, who received recognition for his lifetime of commitment to the service of Calabrian journalists. The information festival also awarded a lifetime achievement award to the Gazzetta del Sud correspondent, Ernesto Paura, for his 54 years of membership in the order of Calabrian journalists lived with the enthusiasm of the first day as well as with seriousness and daily commitment . Recognition also goes to Mario Alvaro, president of the Pollino – Sibaritide Press Club for having “represented a model of balance and commitment by working at the service of information and dialogue between the territories”.
