Journalism under pressure, what future?’: 27 May seminar

On Monday 27 May starting at 5pm, on the occasion of the 121th anniversary of the foundation of the Ligurian Association of Journalists, the training course ‘Journalism under pressure, what future?’, organized by the Assostampa Ligure, will take place at the Giardini Luzzati in Genoa. During the event, some of the main themes that concern the present and future of the journalistic profession will be addressed: employment contracts, new technologies, gagging and censorship of journalists and artificial intelligence. The predominant use of collaboration contracts compared to stable employment relationships, the rules of the so-called ‘Gag Law’ which risk reducing or even eliminating investigative journalism and the ethical problems that journalists will have to face with the introduction of intelligence artificial will be analyzed by magistrates, journalists and sector experts. The introduction will be by Matteo Dell’Antico, secretary of the Ligurian Association of Journalists.

The proceedings will be opened by Alessandra Costante, general secretary of the Fnsi, with the panel ‘Contract, technologies, profession, the ‘climate change of journalism’, together with the director of Secolo XIX Stefania Aloia. Antonio Zagarese will moderate the discussion. The conference will then continue with the panel ‘Gags and censorship: threats to journalists’, organized by the co-director of Agi Paolo Borrometi and the chief prosecutor of Genoa Nicola Piacente. The task of moderating will be entrusted to Tommaso Fregatti. The third and final panel, ‘How to trust information in the time of artificial intelligence’, moderated by Francesca Forleo, will see interventions by Carola Frediani (journalist and writer) and Sergio Splendore (professor at the University of Milan) . The closure will be entrusted to Milena Arnaldi, president of the Ligurian Association of Journalists. The course will guarantee five ethical credits to journalists who participate after registering on the training platform.
