“Recently there has been an anthology of news spread by the media claiming the failure of the Ita-Lufthansa operation due to the inconceivable rigidity of the EU Antitrust Commission. The possible outcomes of the merger could lead to a penalizing condition for the people employed in Ita and those currently on layoffs, these are thousands of people who are waiting for the expansion phase of the company to be integrated, as well as for the general interests of the Country with a negative impact on development and competitiveness”.
the General Secretaries of Fit-Cisl, Salvatore Pellecchia and Ugl Trasporto Aereo, Francesco Alfonsi, report in a joint note. “Italy cannot afford irrelevance in the air transport market, at a particularly favorable moment, with 2023 higher than pre-pandemic 2019, which saw traffic in our country rise to 197 million passengers. In light of this, with the summer season approaching which is the period of maximum profitability for the sector, we ask for a meeting that finally sheds light on the matter, in order to make the union aware and, therefore, workers of Italy and who is in Cigs, on the state of the art relating to the evaluation process by the EU Antitrust Commission on Lufthansa’s investment in Ita. The meeting was brought to the attention of Ministers Giorgetti, Urso and Salvini, as well as the management of the Ita Airways company”.
