FVG safety, regional program of 6.4 million approved

Friuli Venezia Giulia started a new one Regional Integrated Security Program for the 2024with an overall budget of 6.4 million euros. The Regional Council, upon proposal of the competent councillor, approved this initiative in response to the increase in thefts and crimes recorded in FVG.

Financing details and distribution criteria

The funding program is divided into several areas, aimed at strengthening security in all municipalities in the region:

  • 3.1 million euros they will be destined to investment expenses.
  • 1.8 million euros they will cover the current expenses.

These funds are intended for municipalities with a local police force or service and will be used for:

  • The construction and renovation of offices and operations rooms.
  • The installation and maintenance of video surveillance systems.
  • The armament and purchase of technical-instrumental equipment.
  • Strengthening connections telephone, telematic and radio equipment.

For the distribution of funds, clear criteria have been established: a fixed quota is reserved for the bodies of the former provincial capital municipalities, with increased incentives based on the number of operators, while a proportional share will be allocated to the other bodies and police services local, based on the number of operators.

Support for small and large municipalities, tourist areas and incentives for local police associations

A portion of 1.05 million euros is reserved for municipalities with a population greater than 25,000 inhabitants and to the Municipalities with capacity of accommodation establishments exceeding 20,000 beds (Lignano and Grado). These funds involve collaboration with entities responsible for subsidiary safety, such as security guards And stewards.

  • 95 thousand euros they will be assigned to Lignano and Grado.
  • The remaining sum will be divided equally among the other requesting municipalities and in proportion to the population.

50 thousand euros they were instead reserved for municipalities in FVG with a population of less than 5000 inhabitants for the renewal of the uniforms of the safety volunteers.

Finally, a further incentive 400 thousand euros (divided equally between investment expenses and ongoing expenses) is intended for Local police bodies and services who are committed to creating new forms of association or implementing existing ones. These funds will be distributed considering:

  • The number of local police services participating in the project.
  • The number of operators involved.
  • A fixed fee for local authorities without a local police service.
  • A fixed fee for each local authority that joins an already established body.

Increase in crimes in Friuli Venezia Giulia in 2023

The security program includes a summary of data on crimes committed in FVG, highlighting a worrying increase in 2023 compared to the previous year:

  • The crimes have passed by 32,696 in 2022 to 35,209 in 2023.
  • Thefts have increased since 11,641 in 2022 to 13,060 in 2023.

Of these thefts:

  • 26.48% in homes.
  • 11.59% in parked cars.
  • 7.44% in commercial establishments.
  • 5.9% of thefts with dexterity.

We also note an increase in robberies, scams and computer fraud And damage in all four provinces, with data on sexual violence and drug trafficking remaining stable, except for Trieste where an increase was recorded.
