GP Monaco 2024, qualifying: a great Gabriele Minì takes Pole over Mansell

The Italian wins the F3 Pole of the 2024 Monaco GP for the second time in a row

A fantastic Gabriele Minì took Pole position for the F3 feature race in the 2024 Monaco GP. The Prema team driver set the best time in 1:23.942 in the first of the two groups that competed for Pole. In the second group no one managed to get close to his time, among other things the only one under one minute and 24. Christian Mansell, the fastest driver in the second session for Art Grand Prix (1.24.921), stopped at a second from Minì, thus handing the pole start to our young driver.

Having been the fastest of the second group, Mansell will therefore start on the front row alongside Minì. In third position will be Luke Browning (Hitech) with Lindblad (Prema) starting next to him on the second row.

In the Sprint, Tsolov will start on Pole ahead of Van Hoepen.

The news

In the first group of 15 cars, the first good time goes to Browning in 1:26.170. However, the Hitech driver was overtaken by Fornaroli in 1:25.963. Leon is third on Ramos, Minì, Boya. The track improves: Browning drops a second and a half in 1:24.532 to move back to the front, with Fornaroli second at two tenths and Boya at four. Browning improves again in 1:24.230, Minì stops at 360 thousandths and Fornaroli at 434. In the final, Browning hits the wall outside the second chicane from the swimming pool while he is ahead and has to abort the last pass. Minì takes advantage of this and takes the lead in 1:23.943 ahead of the Hitech driver (+0.288) and Fornaroli, third at 353 thousandths.

In the second group Meguetounif is the first to launch for a good timed time but the session is stopped with a red flag due to Hedley’s touch at Sainte Devote. The driver replacing Zagazeta breaks his front wing but can return to the pits independently. He leaves again after a few minutes and with 11 still on the clock. Meguetounif tries again and scores 1:26.098. Beganovic drops to 1:25.569 with Mansell taking second place at 249 thousandths and Tramnitz third at 495. Beganovic first and then Lindblad improve the best time. Mansell did even better than them in 1:24.921, but still a second above Minì’s time. The session was interrupted – due to an unlucky Beganovic, under the best time of the group – one minute from the end due to two cars off the track at Sainte Devote, including Wurz’s. So it ends like this with Mansell ahead of Lindblad and Beganovic.

Below is the combined ranking of qualifications.
