Federica Zambelli: “We need a coordination table with hotel and trade associations that proposes an ethical pact for correct tourist hospitality”

REGGIO EMILIAI am happy that my city hosts the AC/DC concert, a band that manages to involve multiple generations and that will attract people from all over Italy to Reggio. A moment of great music and fun in the city awaited by many.

I hope that the organizational machine is able to function perfectly, protecting the fans and the city. Also good was the involvement of the Santa Croce neighborhood in the organization with equipped campsites and luggage storage at the Don Bosco oratory. Not so good in terms of the offer of rooms and accommodation solutions. Some well-known portals offer increases of 700% with prices around 500 euros. I think that these moments should legitimately bring economic benefit to tourist hospitality operators but a ceiling must be imposed.

An attractive city protects its guests and does not expose them to real robberies. Reggio must find the right approach by combining the attractiveness of its cultural offering with care for hospitality. Two aspects which, if built and shared with the territory, can make a visitor’s experience of Reggio Emilia “characteristic”, inducing them to return, even outside of the attraction of major events.

A local authority, in particular a city administration, must have legislative tools to block speculation. For the next concerts at the Rcf Arena, the new administration will have to promote a coordination table with hotel and trade associations, proposing an ethical pact for correct tourist hospitality.
