WHIRLPOOL/BEKO CRISIS, UILM SIENA: “URGENT MINISTERIAL TABLE”

Unions and workers are calling for investments and immediate solutions for the future of the plant

In a press release, the Uilm of Siena announces that, today, at the Whirlpool/Beko plant in Siena, two workers’ assemblies were held in the presence of the RSU and the Territorial Secretaries of Fim, Fiom and Uilm: Cesarano, Miniero and Martini . During the meetings, requested by the National Secretariats, the urgent need to convene a ministerial table emerged with the participation of Minister Urso and the leaders of Arcelik/Beko. This comparison, which to date has never taken place at any level, is considered indispensable to develop and deepen the issues relating to the prospects and plans of the new echo on the Italian factories, with particular attention to that of Siena.

Need for Investments and Strategic Choices

Trade unions and workers underlined the importance of making significant investments and making key strategic decisions. The objective is to bring products and production back to the production sites to saturate the factories, which for too long have suffered from the massive use of layoffs. The situation has become unsustainable, and workers demand concrete and timely solutions.

Parliamentary Question and Government Response

Yesterday, MP Emiliano Fossi, also Secretary of the Tuscan PD, raised a question in Parliament to highlight the need to set a certain date for the ministerial table. Despite the request, a date has not yet been announced. However, Undersecretary Fausta Bergamotto assured that the table will be convened shortly.

Workers’ discomfort

The workers of Whirlpool/Beko in Siena have expressed their profound discomfort at the current situation. Frustration grows in the face of uncertainty and the absence of concrete responses from institutions and the company. Now, more than ever, it is essential that the parties involved sit around a table to discuss future prospects and find solutions that guarantee production continuity and safeguard employment.

The request for an urgent ministerial table is not just an appeal from the unions, but an urgent necessity to guarantee a stable future for the Italian factories and, in particular, for that of Siena. Workers are waiting for answers and concrete actions.
