A fire broke out on the road between Syracuse and Floridia, in the area of the Capo Corso bridge. The flames originated from the brushwood but immediately invaded the roadway, creating some difficulties for vehicles crossing that stretch of road.
Two teams and a tanker
It was the motorists themselves who requested the intervention of the firefighters and the provincial command of Syracuse sent two teams to contain the fire. A tanker is also on site to allow rescuers to have more water supplies in case the fire spreads.
The fire in Florida
In recent weeks, another fire was recorded, but much larger and more dangerous in Floridia, in particular in a window and door warehouse in via Di Vittorio, in the Marchesa neighbourhood. The flames had broken out in the area of the warehouse and then spread quickly and in that case too it was the firefighters of the provincial command of Syracuse who intervened.
Fire in Palermo
Two fire brigade teams intervened at approximately 2.30 pm, at number 229 via Colonna Rotta, in Palermo, to extinguish a fire which had started in an apartment on the first floor.
The escape
The occupants of the apartment managed to get out before the arrival of firefighters. No structural damage was recorded but the smoke from the combustion affected the various rooms of the building. The operations ended at approximately 3.15pm. 118 personnel and carabinieri were also present on site.
Fire in a biscuit factory, building in via Vaccarini evacuated
A few days ago, a fire broke out last night in a biscuit factory in via Giovan Battista Vaccarini in Palermo. The firefighters intervened and put out the fire that broke out in the kitchen.
The flames produced a large amount of smoke which frightened residents who left their homes. It took about four hours of intervention to shut down and clean up the commercial establishment. Investigations are underway to find the cause of the fire.
