More than twenty years have now passed since the euro replaced the old lira, which many remember with melancholy. However, some of these old coins still retain a particularly high value. They do so, especially, in the eyes of collectors and numismatic experts, who are ready to pay staggering sums to get hold of them. In fact, the lire we will write about are very rare, as they were issued in a limited edition. Over the years their value has undoubtedly increased, since they represent real pieces of history.

Precisely because of their rarity, it is really difficult to own one of these lyres. Furthermore, in order to resell them, it is important to ensure that they are uncirculated. Therefore, their storage conditions must be more than perfect. Otherwise, you won’t find anyone willing to buy them at the prices we will say. To ensure that the lira in question is well preserved, it is best to have it examined by a numismatic expert before reselling it.

That said, the 1 Orange Lira from 1947 can be worth up to 1,500 euros. In fact, only 12,000 examples were minted. How to recognize it? It’s simple: the head of Ceres is represented on the front, an orange on the back. That’s why it has this curious name. So, do you have these old lyres? Know that they sell for their weight in gold.

2 Lire Spiga (1947)

Here’s another lira that’s worth a lot. Precisely, even 1,800 euros. These examples were issued until 1950, however only those from 1947 are rare and of such high value, the year in which 12,000 examples were put into circulation.

The front of the coin represents a farmer intent on plowing a field. In fact, the engraving is a tribute to the first article of our Constitution, which states: “Italy is a democratic Republic, founded on work”. It is therefore an important testimony of a crucial historical moment for our country and this is another reason why it has such a high value in the eyes of collectors.
