Michela Lazzarettithe 25-year-old girl who died following a tragic road accident which occurred late last Sunday afternoon, 19 May, in the Municipality of Savignano sul Rubiconein the province of Forlì-Cesenais the youngest daughter of Giancarlo Lazzaretticandidate for mayor a Verucchio (Rimini), for a civic list.
As reported by the local press, the young woman was with a friend of San Marino by car when they took an embankment after a double bend, ending up in the Rubicon river. Her friend saved herself by managing to unhook her seat belt and get out of the car, while the 25-year-old was trapped in the car and ended up under water. Unfortunately for Michela there was nothing that could be done, while her friend was transported toBufalini Hospital from Cesena with minor injuries, in a state of shock.
The 25-year-old worked as a shop assistant and lived in Verucchio. As a sign of mourning, Matteo Angelini, city councilor asked to stop the electoral campaign at least until the date of the funeral. All sides supported the request, presenting condolences to the family of the mayoral candidate. (archive photograph)
