“The greatest success for me is this audience that came from all over Italy to applaud the future of national volleyball, the Altotevere was literally invaded by fans following their favorites and this resulted in great visibility for the area”. These are the words of the Umbrian regional president of the Volleyball Federation (FIPAV) Giuseppe Lomurno at the end of the under 19 national finals hosted from Tuesday to Sunday in San Giustino, Città di Castello, Sansepolcro, Selci Lama and Trestina.
The tricolor went to Verovolley Assiplan Monza, which in the San Giustino final beat Powervolley Milano 3-1 in an all-Lombardy derby. Mauro Marchetti’s team was able to overturn the initial deficit by closing with scores of 24-26, 25-20, 25-19, 25-19.
With the same result of 3-1 Modena overcame Treviso in the final for third place played at the Pala Ioan in Città di Castello, while at the Palalama Matervolley Castellana Grotte took fifth place by beating Lube Civitanova 3-0. Finally, the other match on the last day saw Torino win 3-1 against Lupi Santa Croce in the final for seventh place.
The event saw the participation of 27 teams in total, bringing 500 professionals as well as numerous fans to Altotevere.
