Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka beaten. Now the Polish tennis player becomes the big favorite for Paris

Iga Swiatek, after the successes of 2021 and 2022, wins the Italian tennis internationals for the third time in her career and does an encore with the Madrid final against the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka. The Polish tennis player thus reaches her ninth career title on clay, in a final that did not have any particular emotions and won with a score of 6-2 6-3.

Swiatek manages to get the upper hand thanks to greater precision in the exchanges and in the first set the first break arrives, in favor of the Pole in the third game. On the other side of the net the Belarusian tennis player appears too foul and looking for definitive shots which however in most cases translate into gratuitous errors. The double break was therefore not long in coming with a frightening forehand on the line by Swiatek. Sabalenka loses the first set also betrayed by her strongest shot, her beloved forehand.

The second set starts better for Sabalenka, but the number one Polish tennis player in the world manages to cancel 5 break points in the second game with serves at almost 200 kilometers per hour. For the Belarusian athlete, the hopes quickly fade away and the gratuitous mistakes begin again, while Swiatek manages to clearly exploit the opportunities that arise. The ninth game is decisive and the Italian Internationals are the Polish tennis player’s third time, who at this point also becomes the clear favorite for Roland Garros, after less than an hour and a half of play.
