The Regional Board of Directors of Vai Friuli Venezia Giulia remembers Silvio Beorchia, general vice-president of the Italian Alpine Club for two terms, from 1997 to 2002. The lawyer Beorchia, who passed away in Tolmezzo on 14 May at the age of 89, was a historic member of the section of the Carnic capital, of which he was at the top for over twenty years, first as vice-president (from 1967) and then president until 1988, and was a member of the Veneto Friulano Giuliano Coordination Committee.

As president of the Central Legal Commission and then as councilor elected by the National Assembly of Delegates and vice-president, he played an essential role in his coordination of the working group for changes to the regulations and specifications and the attention with which he followed the statutory reforms.
A heartfelt memory comes from Umberto Martini, general president of the Italian Alpine Club from 2010 to 2016.

«I met Silvio Beorchia in 1979, when with the CAI section of Bassano del Grappa, of which I was president, we organized the Autumn Triveneto Conference. Since then our acquaintance has been continuous until a few years ago. I had the honor of replacing him as vice president general. Silvio was often decisive in the CAI for the intelligent contribution he made not only for his competence, but also for his ability to resolve the various problems that the association had to face over the years. A prudent and valuable advisor, always available to those who asked him, his calm, punctual and precise interventions were crucial in clarifying difficult situations. He was one of the most representative figures of the national CAI. I am particularly fond of remembering him for the advice I received and his constant closeness.”

Silvio Beorchia’s contribution was also useful in resolving the increasingly complicated legal and bureaucratic issues that even the individual CAI sections had to face over the years.

Cai Tolmezzo reminds you that «he has always followed our activity even in recent years and wanted to be informed regularly».

Cai Friuli Venezia Giulia expresses its condolences and closeness to his family and to those who were close to him.
