Forlì also celebrated the anniversary of the flood. The monument dedicated to the mud angels was unveiled at Porta Schiavonia. It’s raining like a year ago in Forlì. This time, however, there are only a few drops that wet the umbrellas. Nothing to do with the terrible storm that brought the city to its knees on May 16th. Precisely to remember that day and the work of the volunteers, who took to the streets to help those in need, a monument entitled “Reborn from the Mud” was inaugurated at the entrance to the city. “We carried out this work in a very short time, in two months, and depicts the flood and the angels of the mud” explains the author of the work Ido Erani, who experienced the drama of the flood firsthand: “We had 1.70cm of water and it was a huge tragedy. We had to work with 5 friends almost day and night to free ourselves from the mud” The authorities participated in the ceremony, together with the Civil Protection, Fire Brigade and those who found themselves serving in those dramatic days. However, the members of the unitary committee who were victims of the mud were missing and were critical of the choice of the work and of the ceremony organized by the municipality. “Whoever should represent the city’s unity has never crossed the bridge symbolizing the disaster” they wrote in a statement. “And It has been criticized a lot, we hope that the criticism will end and that citizens will learn to appreciate it” concludes Erani
