A night’s work for the Fire Brigade due to intense rainfall announced with a Civil Protection alert.
They were there during the night over forty calls from all over the Varese area for dangerous situations. The very intense rains caused a lot of flooding, especially in cellars or rooms on the first floor.
The underpass in Casorate Sempione closed due to flooding, (above photo) but other roads were also particularly flooded. Like the big bend in the stretch between Solbiate and Castronno on the A8. There were several landslides, such as the one in Malnate in the Siome area.
At least thirty surgeries were still waiting in the early morning of Wednesday 15 May. And for today the rain does not stop, heavy rains are still expected.
Alberto fell on the state road between Cocquio Trevisago towards Gavirate
This morning, around 6:30, a tree fell on the SS1 VAR in Cocquio Trevisago, immediately after the Gavirate roundabout towards Laveno. Firefighters intervened to remove the tree and restore traffic.
