High voltage weather: flood risk for some regions

The unstable currents of Atlantic origin they are starting to gain kilometers towards the east and are already determining a lot instability on various cities in the Central-Northern Italy. However, we must point out that we are only at the beginning of one long period of disturbed weather who will most likely keep us company throughout the week. In fact the conditions weather forecast they will get significantly worse in the next few hours, starting from this Wednesdaywith the arrival of persistent rain and risk of powerful stationary thunderstorms.

Block configuration confirmed

As already anticipated in previous editorials, we are facing one block configuration particularly insidious for our peninsula. L’high pressure it will strengthen throughout the Southern Italy hey Balkansbecoming in effect a solid and leathery wall against which they will literally crash unstable and humid currents southwestern. Considering that theItaly will be located exactly on the border between the unstable Atlantic currents and those more warm and subtropicalwe will be dealing with powerful people thermal contrasts and consequently very intense phenomena.

Stationary cloudbursts

The main problem, however, is the static of this configuration: thehigh pressure firm and solid between Balkans and the Southern Italy will favor the formation of frequent storms and especially stationary on the regions of Northern Italywhere they could generate storms persistent for many consecutive hours. In these cases, it is above all the mountainous areas that pay the consequences Alps And Prealps and locally onNorthern Apennines. Not surprisingly, the latest updates show us rainfall accumulations really sensational among Upper Piedmont, Upper Lombardy, Trentino, Veneto and Apennine areas between Liguria and Emily. On these sectors they could fall up to 300 or even 350 mm of rain by the end of the week, i.e. a disproportionate amount that could cause quite a few problems.

Stationary thunderstorms of this type are unfortunately also capable of giving rise to events alluvial not only in mountainous areas, but also in flat ones, as often happened in the past Northern Italy. In the next weather updates we will try to clearly understand which areas will be most affected by the weather rains and come on storms.
