BREAKING NEWS – MIDDLE EAST: Ceasefire talks in Gaza stalled after Rafah operation

(Reuters) – Below are updates on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East:

10.30 – Ceasefire talks in Gaza are at a standstill due to Israel’s operation in Rafah.

This was stated by the Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani.

The operation Israel launched in Rafah this month closed the main crossing point for aid from the border with Egypt, a move that aid groups say has worsened an already dire situation.

9.00 – Israeli tanks pushed further into eastern Rafah this morning, pushing into the neighborhoods of Al-Jneina, Al-Salam and Al-Brazil, residents said.

“The tanks advanced this morning west of Salahuddin Road in Brzail and Jneina neighborhoods. They are in the streets within the built-up area and there are clashes,” one resident told Reuters via a messaging app .

A video that appeared on social media shows a tank on George Street in the Al-Jneina neighborhood. Reuters was unable to verify the video.

8.30 – Israel’s military offensive in the Gaza Strip has caused the death of at least 35,173 Palestinians and injured 79,061 since October 7.

This was announced by the Ministry of Health of the Palestinian enclave.

In the last 24 hours, 82 Palestinians were killed and 234 injured, the ministry said in a statement.
