On the occasion of the circulation in Greek of his emblematic trilogy set in post-fascist Italy and consisting of “White paper“, “The cloudy summer” And “Street of the Geese“, the translator will dialogue with the author Dimitra Dotsi and the writer Dimitris Mamaloukas.
Plot
Inspector De Luca tries to do justice against the backdrop of the turbulent political and social situation of post-war Italy and the still fresh trauma of fascism. Another reference work of detective fiction, founded on a solid foundation of documented history, and presented by one of the most important writers of detective fiction in Italy today.
White paper
April 1945, northern Italy.
Mussolini and his supporters retreated to Salò. The fascist regime is wavering dangerously. Inspector De Luca investigates the murder of the young and charming Vittorio Reynard, a man very close to high society.
The cloudy summer
May 1945.
After liberation, anarchy. Entire areas of northern and central Italy are under the control of pan-armed guerrillas. An old acquaintance of Inspector De Luca, a member of the resistance police, finds him while he is trying to escape to Rome and forces him to collaborate in solving a brutal mass murder.
Street of the Geese
April 1948, Bologna.
Italy is preparing for the second – and decisive for political developments – political elections. Both the right and the communists are engaged in a ferocious struggle to eliminate each other… In this climate of tension, in Bologna, Inspector De Luca deals with the case of a murder in a brothel via delle Oche. The victim, a young communist, was found hanging. Some want to close the case as a suicide.
