Genoa. Spring full of growth for the tourism in Liguria: in March 2024 over 793,021 presences were registered in the regional territory. It is a increase of 14.6% compared to the same period in 2023 when 691,849 attendances were registered; the increase was therefore 101,172 units. It is above all tourists who are growing in percentage terms foreigners (297,117 attendances, +23%), but the increase also involved the Italians (495,904 attendances, +9.7%).

“With an increase of 14.6% compared to the same period in 2023 – comments the interim president of the Liguria Region Alexander Flat – tourism in Liguria continues to consolidate its growth trend from West to East, on the coast, as well as in the hinterland. It is precisely the internal areas with outdoor areas and paths that are increasingly attractive, with important potential. Another positive factor is the growth both for tourism from across the border with +23%, and internal tourism with an increase of almost 10 percent”.

“This considerable increase in tourists – adds the regional councilor for Tourism Augusto Sartori -, especially foreigners, in an unusual month for Liguria such as March, indicates that the activities we are also doing abroad to promote our region, even outside the classic summer season, are bearing fruit. Liguria is a region to be experienced 365 days a year thanks to its mild climate which allows you to do many outdoor activities. We await with curiosity the data relating to the April long weekends just passed: I am sure that, despite the weather not being excessively favourable, the results will still have been positive”.

The increase in tourist presences affected all the Ligurian provinces. In detail, 182,769 presences were recorded in the province of Imperia, with an increase of 20% compared to March 2023 (30,490 more units). Foreigners were 69,198 (+35.5%), Italians 113,571 (+12.2%). In the province of Savona, 223,973 presences were recorded in March 2024 (+30,035 people compared to March 2023), equal to an increase of 15.49%; visitors from across the border were 56,211 (+30.6%), Italians 167,762 (+11.17%). In the metropolitan city of Genoa there were 264,706 presences in March, with an increase of 22,068 units equal to +9.10% compared to the same period in 2023; 101,678 foreigners (+12.2%), 163,028 Italians (7.22%). In the province of La Spezia, attendance in March 2024 amounted to 121,573, with an increase of 18,579 units. Foreigners were 70,030 (+26.91%), 51,543 Italians (+7.8%).
