The Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said in a statement that Israeli hostage Nadav Popplewell was killed in an Israeli airstrike more than a month ago. Al Jazeera reports it. A few hours ago the Palestinian group had published a video in which he was seen with a wound in one eye. Poplewell, 51, was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nirim and taken to Gaza with his mother Channa Peri, who was released in November. His brother Roy was killed in the October 7 attacks. Hamas had released a new propaganda video showing an Israeli hostage in the Gaza Strip. In the 10-second clip, the hostage identified himself as Nadav Popplewell, 51, according to Israeli media. The terrorist group also said it would release more information or footage soon. Hamas has already released similar videos of hostages, in what Israel calls deplorable psychological warfare. In the video, the man could be seen speaking while text in Arabic and Hebrew scrolled underneath that read: «Time is running out. Your government is lying.”

The video, posted on the group’s Telegram channel, is the third footage released in less than a month of prisoners held in Gaza. On April 27, the group released a clip showing two live hostages: Keith Siegel and Omri Miran. Three days earlier, another video showing Hersh Goldberg-Polin had aired. According to Israeli officials, 128 hostages were held in Palestinian territory, including 36 deaths. Nadav Popplewell, in the video, has a black eye but no other visible injuries, the Jerusalem Post reports. The man, who also has British nationality, was kidnapped on 7 October in the Hamas attack in which his brother was killed. Popplewell is diabetic and her sister. In an interview with the Daily Mail in November, she said she was worried about his health during her captivity. Popplewell’s mother was released on November 24 following the temporary ceasefire and hostage release agreement.
