Research: Fedriga, among the various challenges, is that of hydrogen – News

In addition to the challenges of life sciences, quantum technologies and transition, which the ICTP of Trieste deals with and on which “the regional Administration is focused”, the Region “has adopted various measures to encourage the process of decarbonisation of economic systems and energy in terms of reducing emissions with an energy efficiency improvement of the entire ‘FVG Region System’ and an increase in energy production from renewable sources. The challenge of greater use and diffusion of hydrogen-based technologies”. The president of the Fvg Region, Massimiliano Fedriga, told ANSA this, speaking on the 60th anniversary of the Abdus Salam Center for Theoretical Physics.

The reference is above all to “green hydrogen deriving from renewable sources, used as a raw material, fuel, carrier or energy accumulator”, a lever for more sustainable development, with reduced CO2 emissions, and competitive”. The Region wanted also “strengthen collaboration in the hydrogen sector with Slovenia and Croatia by launching a unique process at European level for the establishment of a North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley – he said – an initiative which also responds to the priorities of the ‘Clean Hydrogen Partnership’ at European level which has shown attention to the trilateral cooperation platform launched as a pilot experience in the area of Central Eastern Europe”. Furthermore, “among the 51 founding members of the National Research Center in High Performance Computing, Big Data and Quantum Computing there they are also SISSA and the University of Trieste”. The Fvg “already has a fundamental role also in AI, supercomputing, quantum: the Region co-finances the Master in High Performance Computing promoted by SISSA and ICTP, an innovative program to train professionals to manage to best exploit the powerful technologies underlying supercomputing”. The Fvg “is a protagonist in the field of quantum communications (fundamental to guarantee high levels of security)”.
