A video attacking Trump using the lyrics to “Euphoria” appeared on Biden’s campaign Instagram page
The diss track of the year seems to have succeeded if even the President of the United States decided to use it. Joe Biden (or, rather, his social management team) published a post on the official Instagram page dedicated to his election campaign, a short video with some photos of Donald Trump scrolling to the background of “Euphoria”. From Kendrick’s diss track, the President’s managers selected the verse in which Lamar lists the characteristics of Drake that he hates, slightly modifying the text in the overlays to attack the republican ideology.
“I hate the way that you walk over women’s rights, the way that you talk about immigrants/I hate the way that you dress/I hate the way that you sneak diss on truth social”, in agreement with some of the pillars of the campaign of Democrats, gender equality and minority inclusion. If the song brought Biden even half the fortune it brought Kendrick, she would undoubtedly win the campaign. In fact, the dissing month caused the ratings of the rapper and his rival to soar, with all the tracks from the battle in the charts.
The success is above all Kendrick’s, who sees four of his five songs in the top 10 of Spotify (“6:16 in LA” is not officially released), with “Not Like Us” in first place overall. Not only the diss tracks, however, but his entire discography is benefiting from it: it is estimated that overall his music has achieved a 50% increase in listeners in the last week. Drake, on the other hand, was less fortunate, not only from a musical point of view but also personally. In fact, on Tuesday one of his security guards was shot, seriously wounding him, while between Wednesday and Thursday two people attempted to cross the gates of the Embassy.
