TRENT. The pain is immense after the tragic death of Matteo Lorenzi17 years old, victim of a car accident in Civezzano, while he was going to meet his teammates from Us Montecorona for a racing bike training session.
He was coming down from home, in Fornace, towards Civezzanoriding his bike, when on the straight in Sille, he violently crashed into a van which cut him off from a side street.
The tragedy occurred yesterday, shortly after 3.30pm and the impact was extremely violent, the young cyclist then ended up on the ground: the attempts to resuscitate him made by the medical staff, who arrived on site shortly afterwards, were useless. Unfortunately, there was nothing left to do to save Matteo.
Us Montecorona on Facebook, struck by infinite mourning, expressed his condolences yesterday: “With immense pain and eyes full of tears we must say goodbye to our Matteo who suddenly left us. We cling to his loved ones with respectful silence. Remembering the good moments spent together we bid you farewell, we will miss you so much Matteo.”
The news of Matteo’s death yesterday also arrived quickly at the Galileo Galilei scientific high school of Trento, where the boy attended the third A applied sciences in the late afternoon.
A shock for the teachers who knew him. A trauma also for his companions and for his girlfriend who was also his classmate. A love, theirs, blossomed between one lesson and another.
«This boy had all the qualities – the religion teacher Marco Luscia remembers him fondly – and we often joked about his passion for cycling. His death is devastating news for us teachers and for the whole class.”
Remembering Matteo, the teacher talks about a participatory, sensitive, gentle, polite, intelligent and ironic boy. His thoughts now turn to the class, to how to talk to his classmates.
