76-year-old Giuseppe Mario Sardi from Vimercate has died

Pain and despair in Bellusco, in the province of Monza-Brianza, for the tragic death of 76-year-old Giuseppe Mario Sardi, who died after falling 150 meters into a gully, along a path in the mountains above Anfo.

The tragedy occurred before the eyes of two friends, with whom he was returning to the Baremone area, where they had left the car. While they were tackling a difficult passage under Cima Meghè, at around 1500 meters above sea level, Sardi lost his balance, probably by placing his foot badly: at that point he fell into the gully. The alarm immediately went off on 112, while a 66-year-old friend tried to reach him and also slipped, dislocating his shoulder. The third hiker then waited for help to arrive, while trying in vain to call the 76-year-old, who died instantly after the terrible 150 meter ‘flight’.

The 118 health workers, who arrived on board an ambulance and an air ambulance, could not help but confirm the death. Alpine Rescue technicians intervened to recover the body. The dynamics of the tragedy are being examined by the police.

Giuseppe Mario Sardi was an expert hiker. Alpine guide, in Bellusco he was one of the representatives of the local CAI section. The funeral will be celebrated on Saturday.
