The naming of a street in the municipality of Montecorvino Rovella was held on Wednesday morning after Marco Mattiucci, a firefighter decorated with the Gold Medal for Civil Valor in memory of the heroism demonstrated during the Sarno flood on 5 May 1998 , when he distinguished himself for his courage and self-sacrifice in saving human lives at the cost of his life. The event saw the presence of the civil and military authorities of the area as well as colleagues from the fire brigade including Vincenzo Luordo (Provincial President of the Salerno Section of ANVVF, National Corps), Antonio Grimaldi (National President emeritus of ANVVF, National Corps), Carlo Federico (Provincial Commander of the Salerno Fire Brigade) and Emanuele Franculli (Regional Director of the Campania Fire Brigade).

«Naming a street after Marco Mattiucci, linked to our territory as he attended schools here, is a gesture of profound respect and admiration for a hero who embodied the highest ideals of courage and altruism» states the mayor, Martino D’ Omphorius. «Mattiucci, who fell in the line of duty during the Sarno flood, is a symbol of the supreme sacrifice for the safety and well-being of our community. This recognition perpetuates the memory of a man who, with an indomitable spirit of service, sacrificed himself to save human lives, demonstrating incredible tenacity and a very high sense of duty. Marco lives in our hearts as the guardian of our most noble traditions of solidarity and courage, a shining example for the current and future generations of Montecorvino Rovella.”
