Victory and playoff final achieved. Alfa Basket Catania, at the Paladavolos in Comiso, beats coach Massimiliano Farruggio’s quintet with the final score of 80-76.
Fourth match of the season and fourth success against Olympia Basket Comiso (two in the regular season and two in the playoffs) for the team from Catania. The team coached by Davide Di Masi, assisted by assistant Aldo Calabrese, conquered the Comisan pitch at the end of a good match well played by both teams.
Strong emotions in the stands with a good representation of Alfa supporters, who loudly cheer on the red and blue quintet, exploding with joy at the sound of the siren. Alfa Basket Catania is in the final for promotion to Serie B. An important goal achieved with the sound of baskets and with an immense heart.
Last night in Comiso another show of strength from the people of Catania. Absent Daniel Arena feverish. Davide Di Masi’s team makes up for the absence of the playmaker well. With a team effort Alfa manages to bring home success.
Comiso ends the first set ahead (27-19). The Rossazzurri played an excellent second period (42-48), taking the lead thanks to the counterattacks of Patanè, Signorino, Abramo and Budrys. In the last partial Alfa regains command of the game: Gabriele Signorino gives energy to the team; Matas Budrys and Luciano Abramo, although well marked, did their part (18 points each at the end of the match). Everyone did well, from Simone Bergamo to Marco Pennisi, passing through Gabriele Patanè and Enrico Pappalardo.
Vibrant last minutes of the game. Alfa Basket Catania leads by 4 points and systematic foul by Comiso. From the line, tense nerves and great coolness from captain Abramo (4 consecutive free throws), Budrys (2/2) and Patanè (2/2). In the end it’s a red and blue celebration.
The final has been won, now we wait to know the sports judge’s verdict on Gela Basket – Catanzaro (game 2 suspended yesterday in the fourth set due to invasion of the pitch with the Calabrians, already winners of the first match, ahead 59-54).
