Saturday 11 May, the fourth and final appointment with the 2024 edition of ‘Il sociale in the sign of tradition’, an event organized by the districts of Solestà Gate And
Sant’Emidio with the Lilt of Siena, in collaboration with the castles of Venarotta and Montegallo, the support of the Carisap Foundation and the patronage of the municipal administration of Ascoli Piceno. Closing the events will be “Questione di testa”, a public interview with the professor Sandro Carlettirenowned neurosurgeon, head physician of the Ifca in Florence, medical director of the Lilt complex in Siena.
Specializing in neurosurgery – but also in emergency general surgery and emergency room – student of the luminary Giulio Maira, Carletti was director of the complex neurosurgery structure of the Terni hospital for over 15 years and later also responsible for the neuroscience department and neurorehabilitation. In 2018, a courageous life and professional choice: in search of new stimuli, he resigned. He joined the Giomi Group and created the neurosurgery department of the Ifca clinic in Florence, Ulivella e Glicini, an affiliated facility where it is possible to be treated at no additional cost compared to public hospitals. Over 10 thousand surgical operations in his career, the professor operates in Florence and Rome and visits 14 different cities in central Italy, including Ascoli.
On Saturday 11 May, starting at 4pm, in the parish theater of Venarotta, Carletti will explain the pathologies that cause headaches, when to worry, what to do and how to treat them. He will also answer citizens’ questions. During the conference, Patrizio Zunica will be remembered, consul of the Porta Solestà district, who passed away early, and who in Venarotta – where he lived – was esteemed and well-liked by everyone.

My profession doesn’t leave me much free time and these opportunities must be seized quickly, not only to meet and get to know new people, but also to explain aspects of the pathologies I deal with on a daily basis and dispense advice to those who feel the need. I thank the districts and the municipal administration of Venarotta: unfortunately laudable social initiatives of this kind are always very rare”.
