oopThe Vice President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, will be in Gorizia where he will meet the Mayor of the city, Rodolfo Ziberna, to reiterate the importance of the joint designation of Gorizia and Nova Gorica as the European Capital of Culture 2025, within the framework of the Government’s renewed commitment to the Adriatic area and the strengthening of the Italian role in the Balkan region.

Also in light of the troubled history of the region, the joint designation of Gorizia and Nova Gorica represents a project with strong symbolic value, which aims to elevate the cooperation between the two cities to a European model of cross-border and eco-sustainable urban area. The Deputy Prime Minister will also participate in the presentation of the stamp celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the fall of the Gorizia wall – the last in Europe – which divided the two cities along the Italian-Slovenian border.

Tajani will subsequently speak at the Third Edition of the “Festival of Change” promoted by the Venezia Giulia Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with The European House Ambrosetti at the Gorizia headquarters of the University of Trieste. At the center of the debate, the potential and risks of artificial intelligence: a highly topical issue that the Italian Presidency of the G7 wanted to include among the priorities of the work agenda, and which was also addressed during the recent G7 Foreign Ministerial in Capri.

Afterwards, at the Blue Energy Stadium Auditorium in Udine, Minister Tajani will meet the organizers of the 2024 stage of the Giro d’Italia-Friuli Venezia Giulia. The event will offer the opportunity to reiterate the Farnesina’s strong commitment to supporting the ” sports diplomacy”, promoted by the Minister since the beginning of his mandate, and in which the Giro d’Italia plays a leading role, also as a driving force for the development of our territories. For these reasons, in 2023 and 2024 the Giro d’Italia was previewed at the Farnesina and, more recently, also at the meeting of the G7 Foreign Ministers in Capri.
