Eleven people were injured following a plane crash at the airport of the capital of Senegal, Dakar. The company that manages the airport announced this in a statement, underlining that four people are in serious conditions. The accident occurred around 1 am local time (3.00 in Italy), when a Boeing 737-38J of Transair, chartered by Air Senegal, went off the runway during take-off. The authorities have closed the capital’s airport.
Plane crashes off runway in Senegal: what happened
The plane, headed for Bamako, “ran off the runway during take-off around 01.00 on Thursday 9 May 2024”, we read in a statement. “Eleven of the 78 passengers were injured, 4 of them seriously,” adds the note. The airport is “closed until the necessary measures are taken”, he concludes.
