Two gold medals for the people of Oristano during the races held last weekend at Campo Rossi in Cagliari, during the Città di Cagliari A2* equestrian competition, organized by Anac Coloc Cavalleggeri di Sardegna.
The City of Cagliari Grand Prix cat. C140 delivered the gold to Sardinian Taissa mounted by Gianleonardo Murruzzu (silver for saura Rarity and his knight Luigi Angius). Murruzzu again – but this time Martha, daughter of art – on the top step of the Brevetti Trophy podium, with 40 registered pairs from all over Sardinia. An important race made even more precious for this edition by the plaque for the winners offered by the family of Dr. Margherita Mayer, a rider and great frequenter of the race fields, who passed away last year due to an accident that occurred in the Tanca Regia field in Abbasanta. There is also a bit of Oristano in the team selected to represent Sardinia at the President’s Cup, in Piazza di Siena. During the viewing and selection competitions to be part of the team, the technician Giovanni Lucchetti and the team manager Antonio Murruzzu had the opportunity to evaluate the performances of the duos who took part in the C125 categories on Saturday and Sunday. Among them also Beatrice Schirru, who trains in Oristano.
It was the grey Carucho mounted with precision by Nicolò Cocco to win the C125 GP 1st place on Sunday, the only pairing to finish with a clear double in the two heats. The performance of the rider Grazia Giorico on SI was also excellent Neimar de Samugheo who preceded the very young Marco Pala on Chicago Chicago; the duo closes in fourth position Verner – Alessandro Correddu followed by Beatrice Schirru on the splendid bay By Spock.
Not just races at Campo Rossi but real moments of sport, friendship and above all gratitude for the horses who should be praised and rewarded even when their well-deserved retirement has arrived. Greeting the race fields last weekend was Centano of Villa FrancescaSI of 2002, who during the ceremony in his honor concluded his competitive career amidst the applause and tears of his rider Michele Torchia and all the public present.
The event saw the presence of many illustrious names including Clara Campese, president of FISE Veneto and of Cavalli in Villa, an event which also sees, for the 2024 edition, a stop in October in Sardinia, thanks to the collaboration with the regional committee FISE. A strategic twinning which has the horse as its sole protagonist, the glue between sport, culture, sociality and territory. An important format for an equally precious life companion that deserves attention from the equestrian sector and institutions and projects aimed at safeguarding its well-being.
